It was Martha who got the young Napoleon to try his hand in writing instead of in his usual mischievous habits. She served as a guiding light for the Hills since then. His father eventually got married again to the former wife of a high school principal, Martha. At the early age of 10, his mother had succumbed to sickness and his father had a difficult time coping.
